Aito (known as Wenjie in the Chinese market), a joint venture between Huawei and automobile giant Seres, has accelerated its work for its new SUV model. The first real images of the new electric SUV model named Aito M5 have emerged.
Huawei-powered new Aito M5 revealed
Aito is preparing to unveil the new model at the Beijing Motor Show later this month. In this context, all the work on the M5 seems to be completed. Photos shared in China revealed the exterior design of the vehicle.
Compared to the previous model, the M5 features a black color finish on the front logo and rims. This design gives the SUV a sportier look. The red brake calipers also make the vehicle stand out.
Another feature that has been upgraded compared to the previous M5 is the LiDAR sensor on the roof. This revealed that the company is enhancing its intelligent driving system with the help of additional sensors such as LiDAR. The M5 currently on sale uses 12 ultrasonic sensors, 11 cameras and wave radar for the Huawei ADS 2.0 driver assistance system.
It is not yet clear how much the revamped system will improve autonomous driving capabilities. It should be noted that the M5 also offers a range of 1425 km, 255 km of which is electric. With the upgraded battery, the electric range can be extended.
Aito has not yet announced the technical specifications or pricing of the new M5. However, it should be reminded that it will be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show on April 23rd.
